Many a "word" folk today has gone into a criticism frenzy, mostly as a result of their "circle", and of course, they don't know. You see it gradually becoming a craze to impulsively talk down some gospel songs (especially old songs) without critically analyzing them.
We tend to develop reservations for certain songs if they are unpopular in our local christian gathering, and if not careful, begin to label them as wrong. But come on! How will a song become wrong just because your pastor doesn't sing it? He apparently can't know any significant number of songs amongst the thousands of thousands.
I've seen people criticize songs and end up singing them later. What makes a "gospel" song wrong is if it does anything other than promoting the finished works of Christ, God's good nature, and his splendor. For example, what makes us like God is he has given us his nature; hence, we are righteous like he is (Romans 3:21–22, 2 Corinthians 5:21). However, when it comes to greatness, exploits, and existence, we are miles apart. There is truly no one like him.
So before you criticize that song, calm down, and give no room for sentiments. You just might need to pay more attention. It just might not be wrong after all.
