I CAN HEAL THE SICK

Matthew 10:1,8(NKJV)
[1]And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, HE GAVE THEM POWER over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.
[8]Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. FREELY YOU HAVE RECEIVED, freely give.
Please pay some attention to Jesus' instruction here.
Jesus said, HEAL the sick, CLEANSE the lepers, RAISE the dead, CAST out devils.
Now this post is for the purpose of making it clear that we should never be too in a hurry to call it pride when a believer says that he can heal the sick.
Jesus said, "HEAL the sick", NOT "I will heal the sick through you." They mean the same. Jesus was making it clear to them that they could heal the sick. Why? Because he had freely given this power to them.
Jesus also made it clear in same verse that they could cast out devils.
See this
Mark 16:17(NKJV)
[17]And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name THEY WILL DRIVE OUT DEMONS; they will speak in new tongues.
Jesus didn't say he would drive out devils through them. He said they would drive out devils. Why? Because they now could. He had empowered them to do so.
Acts 3:1-8(NKJV)
[1]Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.
[2]And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple;
[3]who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms.
[4]And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.”
[5]So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.
[6]Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, BUT WHAT I DO HAVE I GIVE YOU: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
[7]And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
You see, Peter called it "WHAT I HAVE". This is not pride. He was simply acknowledging what he had been given. He could heal the sick; he could work miracles. So, he was acknowledging this truth.
What is important is that he recognized that he was not the source of this power and he gave the credit to God.
Acts 3:11-13,16(NKJV)
[11]Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed.
[12]So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or WHY LOOK SO INTENTLY AT US, AS THOUGH BY OUR OWN POWER OR GODLINESS WE HAD MADE THIS MAN WALK?
[13]The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go.
[16]And his name, THROUGH FAITH IN HIS NAME, HAS MADE THIS MAN STRONG, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
You see that?
Acts 28:8(NKJV)
[8]And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and HE LAID HIS HANDS ON HIM AND HEALED HIM.
When a Christian says he can heal the sick, don't be too quick to call it pride. He is simply affirming what Jesus says he can. The intent of his heart is what matters. What is important is that he recognizes God as his source.
So, "I can heal the sick" is a valid Bible statement.
Blessings.
